DMSO and herxheimer reaction? was created by Haelli
Hi
I have just started using DMSO gel 60% with aloe on my leg to help get rid of my spider veins. I am getting what I think is a herxheimer reaction, that is, a cold in the morning and worse after use and diarrhea about 30mins after.
I have used a DMSO/CDS bath twice and had a really strong cold during the night after doing an evening bath. Then taking a CDS dose cured the cold.
I never experienced any cold with just the CDS bath in the past.
Can anyone shed some light on the reactions I am having mostly with the gel as I am worried I maybe sending germs or toxins in, although I have information that states that bacteria and viruses cannot enter with DMSO or any other compounds with a molecular wait of less than one thousand.
I hope you can help...I am always nervous self healing without thorough information.
Thank you
Haelli

Personally, I ALWAYS clean ANY area that I'm going to be applying DMSO to with either Calcium Hypochlorite spray (1 measuring tsp. of 68% to 8oz. of distilled water); or, MMS spray before using the DMSO. That was the advice I was given early on; and, it's served me well. Is it REALLY necessary??? I don't know... Some folks say it is; some folks say it isn't. Myself, I prefer to err on the side of caution; and, with CH sooooo cheap (I get mine for $3.99 for a 16oz bag, in the form of Ortex brand pool shock, the only brand I've found locally that was 68%), I figured there wasn't any point in rolling the dice. I keep a spray bottle of it around all the time, anyway; since, I fall a lot (2 lumbar disks are bone on bone) and I'm always getting scraped up. It's worth trying. If the herx-type symptoms don't happen when you do; but, are there when you don't, you'll know. (And you can come back and tell the rest of us.)

I would try the DMSO only on your spider veins an check for a reaction. If not it probably is in the gel.
I've used DMSO for along time and never had a herx, I've had the burning sensation at times but that's all.
Few people are allergic to DMSO but you should notice a pain in the liver area. Also a very few are allergic to sulfur but you should know this as many foods contain sulfur.
And as stated above only use on a clean area. Wish you well Pat
